Sorry I Fell off the Planet...but I'm Back Now.

Journal Entry: Thu May 28, 2009, 10:08 AM

News

Oh my goodness, I'm sorry I've pretty much died off deviantART the last school year...I have been super-busy. However, my first year of university is FINISHED now (as of a month ago). A lot has occurred, changed, and shifted, but it's all been really awesome.

I'll be putting up more art shortly! Thank you all for sticking with me. And thanks for each person who faved my artwork! It makes me smile. :)

University

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 6, 2008, 3:22 PM

News

Yes, university. I'm taking fine arts (visual studies), which means that--yay--I'll be able to produce art non-stop! What a dream major. I'm planning to do a combined degree so I can be a secondary school art and English teacher. But that's just my plan in pencil--anything can happen. *shifty*

So yeah, sorry I haven't been getting things posted lately. As you know, I was overseas and guess what--Singapore doesn't have bristol paper! There wasn't any where I looked, at least. Poo.

I'm not sure exactly how the equation "God + university + working + social life + extra curriculars" is going to play out, so I honestly can't tell you when or what you can expect from me next in terms of art. Did you know in university you can plagiarize yourself? I wonder if that means I can't post any of my school projects on dA...*ponders*

Anyways, I hope you all have an awesome fall, whatever you may be doing, whether it's something completely new or routine or who-knows-what. I'd love to hear what you guys and gals are doing for the fall. :) Be blessed!

Summer Days

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 19, 2008, 6:46 PM

News

At this moment, I'm in my pajamas, sitting at my cousin's laptop...in Singapore. For those who don't know, it's a tiny little dot on the equator under Malaysia.

I'm having tons of fun here hanging with cousins and other family members, playing basketball (no better way to work up a sweat with the humidity here), shopping, going to the beach, etc.

One of the gifts we got some of our cousins was a Jelly Belly machine (like a gumball machine, except with jelly beans). It was, of course, filled to the max with jelly beans. The problem is, it's so hot and humid over here that the jelly beans are sticking together. Now the machine is having a hard time dispensing the beans because they are all melded together.

As for how this relates to art, my cousin mentioned about me drawing her baby triplet girls, so maybe that's what you'll see next. I'm not sure, though! Anything can happen in the summer...

Camp

News

I'm back from volunteering at camp, which was an awesome experience, as it was last year. The first few days were a bit hard, but when we got warmed up it was pretty good (although there's always the kids who are more disobedient). Lots of the kids remembered me (and my drawings) and most of the campers I had this year I knew from last year. I was reunited with one of my favorite kids, Cooper, who is a budding artist himself.

Besides that, there were many funny/interesting stories, including a mouse in our cabin, one of my fellow counselors eating a bowl of cheerios that dropped on the floor (and had little dusties in it), two counselors getting "married", having a counselor pillow fight, and so much more that I can't list off here because you'd probably get really bored.

As for Keira Knightley, I'm working on her hair right now, which is the most hair I've ever had to draw for a portrait. The piece will be done before this Wednesday, so keep your eyes peeled.

You may have noticed I have a new link at the top titled "Unleash Life", which is my website I've recently started. I'd encourage you to check it out!

See You in a Week!

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 26, 2008, 12:16 PM

News

I'm off to volunteer at a camp as a camp counselor for the littlest kiddies as well as doing drawings to help with the Bible lessons. I really like how I get to use my art for God's glory: teaching the next generation about Him! I won't be back till next Saturday. See you then!

No worries, though, I'm going to be toting along my art supplies to work on my Keira Knightley portrait. I'm making good progress and am pretty happy with how she's turning out! Be warned, it's not going to be a conventional picture of her--I wanted to encompass something more than the airbrushed photoshoots; I wanted the real Keira, so this one has actual emotion! It's actually a lot more fun drawing a face that has emotion than one with none at all.

On a separate note, remember how I was saying I drew my teacher's pet dog? Well, to say she loved it would be an understatement. I was scared she wouldn't like it, but she started tearing and hugged me three times, while peppering me with praise. She then went to every classroom to show it off to everyone who would stand long enough to look at it. I'm so happy she liked it! :D
